RIGHT WAY DOWN

Embark on a journey with MOVE Fest into the Forest to explore the cycle of evolution, growth, decay, death, and rebirth. But it will be a bit topsy-turvy.

The Swedish contemporary circus company Right Way Down has been specializing in the handbalancing discipline for years, transforming this originally solo technique into a collective dynamic discipline, where individual elements merge into a harmonious whole. Just like in the forest.

The dark, quiet, cold, and misty atmosphere of the forest comes to life as sunbeams penetrate through the leaves, branches dance in the wind, and deep roots connect everything into a harmonious ecosystem. And all of this is achieved solely through the bodies of six performers. They intertwine, explore the absurdity of an upside-down world, where the rules of normality are inverted, inviting you into the forest, where with incredible strength and self-control, they shape the space together and create a unique performance full of harmony and innovation.

Letting go is rebirth.

Wald by Right Way Down portrays nature's cycle and its interaction with human touch. Through handstands, we explore changing habitats and question the balance between nature's harmony and our influence. By challenging traditional handstand techniques, we transform the solo focus into a broader experience. Our diverse personalities embody the contrast between natural evolution and conscious construction.

Through handstands, we use our bodies as a medium to craft imagery and collage on stage. Within our performance, we raise inquiries about nature's capacity to achieve harmony and our power to influence or impede its course.

Right way down, a collective of six hand balancers, defies the traditional circus narrative. With each member graduating from the University of the Arts in Stockholm (DOCH) and dedicating their careers to mastering hand balancing, they unite to bring Wald to life.

Wald is a realm where inversion and upside-down expression thrive. Embracing the absurdity of an upturned reality, right way down invites you to witness the world from a fresh perspective. Experience the captivating artistry of hand balancing and discover a new way of seeing things, the right way down.

In challenging the traditions of handbalancing, Wald's conceptual framework emerges. Through the deconstruction of conventional techniques and the involvement of multiple bodies, we transform handbalancing from a solo endeavor into a more expansive form. With diverse personalities and physicalities, we embody the contrast between natural evolution and conscious construction.
