Rise again, rise, My dust!
Ostravica site-specific
Tantehorse
The unique site-specific performance Rise Again My Dust (loosely translated Let My Ashes Rise Again) was created especially for the once famous Ostravice department store, now hermetically sealed by passers-by. The Tantehorse theater ensemble, together with Ostrava dancers and actors, embarks on a journey of search for meaning in the middle of an emptied emptiness. The genius loci of the sentimental past meets the crisis of the present and finds the answer in the spiritual basis of Gustav Mahler's music. Liberation from earthly things and the knowledge that nothing ends with death brings hope.
There comes a dreamy resurrection, as monumental as Mahler's symphony, and as intimate as the muffled bustle of the street, whispering into dead space. Life and death revolve in a circle. No one knows what he started with, but it is certain that it does not end today.
Miřenka Čechová and the Tantehorse team created the performance Rise Again My Dust literally from the ashes and dust of Ostravice, for this space and for this time when the view into the future overlaps with memories.
