Under the guidance of lecturers Michaela Králiková and Maya Matoušková, we will learn how to "irrigate from within" through conscious movement, awaken softness and flexibility, feel the flow, wave and current that support regeneration and release tension. This two-hour workshop will be led playfully and gently, so that it is also suitable for beginners who want to get to know their body in a new light.
All this under the open sky on the roof of the City Campus of the University of Ostrava , from where a beautiful view of Ostrava opens up. Come and diversify your festival program with a moment to stop and perceive your own body.
What awaits you:
two-hour lesson with experienced teachers
movement exercises aimed at hydrating the fascia
discovering the fluidity and interconnectedness of the body
work in pairs and groups to deepen perception
exploring the body as a fluid, adaptable and living space
The NŌMA people project is an initiative aimed at supporting individual development through movement and somatic practice, emphasizing the connection between bodily perception and collective experience. Through structured meetings, movement exercises and retreats, participants learn to consciously observe their body, internal processes and interactions with others, thereby promoting self-awareness and social cohesion. The program is designed to be inclusive - suitable from complete beginners to experienced movement practitioners. NŌMA people creates a safe and supportive space where individuals can experiment with movement, develop their authenticity and together form a community based on mutual respect and cooperation.
Behind the project are two female artists who combine their long-term performative and pedagogical experience in the field of dance and movement practice:
Maya Matoušková
Maya is a dancer, lecturer and visual artist who connects movement with creation and visuals, with a great sense of aesthetics. Her movement vocabulary is based on street dance styles, through the discovery of contemporary, dancehall and African styles. She founded two dance groups, worked in the professional group Dance2xs and created site-specific performances, in which she connected various creative worlds and the dance scene of her city. In recent years, her path has deviated from performance towards a deeper exploration of movement and the body - to observation, care, regeneration, playfulness and the search for a sustainable approach to movement and life.
Michaela Králiková
Dancer and teacher working in the field of contemporary dance, physical theatre, somatic practice and improvisation. Her artistic and pedagogical approach places a deep emphasis on authenticity and bodily presence. She is a member of the international theatre studio Farma v jeskyni, where she is dedicated to performance and tutoring educational programmes for youth and older adults. She actively collaborates with the platforms tanC, Tanečno, Move Ostrava, Credance, Human Wave and Slam Poetry SK. She started her professional career at the SĽUK Theater and is a graduate of the Private Conservatory in Košice and the Art Factory International program in Bologna.
